Workshops and Groups

Experiential Workshops

Art Journals - Make and share artistic journal entries with a supportive group of artists. We will practice responding non-judgmentally to our own and others work. (ongoing group)

Art of Wellness - We'll creatively depict the activities from our wellness toolkits in a way that we can access any time. Possibilities include: a poster, a grab bag/box, a spinner, an altered book, or whatever you come up with. (workshop)

Body Drawings - We'll explore the emotions and energies we store in different parts of our bodies through meditation and visualization. Then we'll use what we've learned to color in life-size self portraits. (workshop)

Creative Mindfulness - Each week we'll try a new mindfulness practice including things like body scan, gentle movement meditation, sketching & contour drawing, candle meditation, desire/fullfillment meditation, mindful dialog, aesthetic response, clay pinch pots, etc. (ongoing group)

Forget Sex! Let's Talk about Gender - A mixed-gender discussion and activity group about gender. How do you identify? What does that mean? We'll perform different genders and see how it feels. Let's compare notes and see what we can learn about ourselves, each other, and gender as a construct. (workshop or ongoing group)

Group Sculpture - We'll arrange each other into living sculptures that represent relationships in our lives. Seeing the positioning of the roles we play from a different perspective can help us gain insight into patterns and ideas for how to change them.

I Love My Body - At times it can be a struggle to love our bodies, respect their needs, and treat them respectfully. We'll use mindfulness, movement, and creative expression to open dialog with our bodies. We'll support each other on a path to greater self acceptance and wholeness.

Journal Making - Design and bind your own custom art journal while reflecting on the creative process to gain personal insight. (workshop)

Photo Booth - Let's play dress up! Who do you want to be today? Play with a qualities that interest you by developing a persona for the day complete with a mask, movement, and attitudes. We'll take photos of ourselves embodying these personas and find out what these characters can teach us. (workshop)

Playback Storytelling - We'll tell our stories and then play them back for each other with improvisational theater games. Experience what it is like to feel truly witnessed. (workshop or ongoing group)

Self Care Plan - Design your self care plan with supportive peers. We'll look at what we're doing now to take care of ourselves and what has worked well for us in the past to help us cope with stressful times in the future. (workshop or ongoing group)

Self Experiment - We'll each choose one practice from our wellness toolkit to focus on for the 10 weeks of the group. We'll monitor how doing or not doing our chosen practice changes our experience. When we meet, we'll check in about how the experiment is going, learn about each others' practices, and encourage each other to keep up with the experiment. By the end of the 10 weeks, we'll know whether our practice helps us. If it does, we'll each have a new positive habit to support our wellness! (10 weekly sessions)

Wellness Toolkit - Each week we'll learn about, discuss, and experience a stress-reduction or self care technique to add to our wellness toolkits. (ongoing)

Support Groups

Beyond the Binary - This is a group for people who do not identify with binary gender categories at least some of the time. Let's explore what's special about ourselves and support each other in living outside the mainstream definitions of gender.

Helpers Helping Themselves - This expressive arts playgroup is for activists and helping professionals who wish to support their own wellness and prevent burn out.

Open Relationships - We'll share stories and support each other as we live in alternative and non-monogamous relationship frames.

Questioning and Coming Out - Whoever you're coming out to and whatever you're coming out about, it can be a stressful process. This is a place where those of us who are going through a coming out process can support each other, practice coming out to each other, and explore the personal aspects of "going public" with aspects of our identities we've kept hidden. All genders, all sexualities, and all levels of ability welcome.

Transitions - A support group for people in the midst of gender transitions. We'll support each other emotionally as we gain insights, and share knowledge and experience to aid in making informed decisions.
